Now here are the foreign or almost-forgotten words from the recipes. There are not a million of them but it is increibly necessary to understand everything in case of cooking/baking...

MY NEEDS  -  Part1

 

 

Succulent: fruit, vegetable or meat- containing a lot of juice and tasting good

Thyme: plant with small leaves that have a sweet smell and are used in cooking as a herb (kakukkfű)

Parsley: a plant with curly green leaves that are used in cooking as a herb and to decorate food      (petrezselyem)

Drizzle: to pour a small amount of liquid over the surface of sth

Garlic: a vegetable of the onion family with a very strong taste and smell used in cooking to give flavour to food (fokhagyma)

Chives: the long, thin leaves of a plant with purple flowers. Chives tastes like onion and are used to give flavours to food (metélőhagyma)

Clementine: fruit like a small orange (mandarin)

TBSP: tablespoon

TSP:teaspoon

Zest: the outer skin of an orange or a lemon, etc. when it is used to give flavour in cooking

Grater: a kitchen utensil, with a rough surface used for grating food into small pieces

Sift: to put flour or some other fine substance through a sieve

(sieve: wire or plastic net attached to a ring)

Ginger: the root of the ginger plant is used in cooking as spice (gyömbér)

Blend: to mix two or more substances together

Electric whisk: a kitchen utensil used for stirring eggs, etc very fast

Mingle: to combine or make one thing to combine with another

Icing sugar: fine white powder made from sugar that is mixed with water to make icing

(icing: sweet mixture of sugar and water, milk, butter or egg white that is used to cover and decorate cakes)

Stir: to move a liquid or substance around, using a spoon or something similar in order to mix it thoroughly

Yolk: the round yellow part in the middle of an egg

Leek: a vegetable like a long onion with many layers of wide, flat leaves that are white at the bottom and green at the top.

Leeks are eaten cooked. The leek is a national symbol of Wales.

Trim: to make something neater, smaller, better…etc. by cutting parts from it / to cut away unnecessary parts from something

Flapjack: a thick soft biscuit made from oats, butter, sugar, and syrup

Mincemeat: a mixture of dried fruit, spices…etc. used especially for making pies

Yeast: used in making beer and wine or to make bread rise

Rosemary: a bush with small narrow leaves that smell sweet and are used in cooking as a herb (rozmaring)

Knead: to press and stretch dough, wet clay etc. with your hands to make it ready to use

Sage: a plant with flat, light green leves that have a strong smell and are used in cooking as a herb (zsálya)

Simmer: to cook something by keeping it almost at boiling point

Fudge: a type of soft, brown sweet

Evaporated milk: thick, sweet milk sold in cans often served with friut instead of cream

Caster sugar: white sugar in the form of very fine grains, used in cooking and decorating cakes

MY NEEDS

Today I am going to finish one part of  "my needs" and I uploaded some photos about the delicious meals I would be capable of  cooking/baking since I have investigated some English recipes. Of course, there were foreign words - chiefly because I am not a typical "konyhatündér" not even in Hungarian...
